Friendship Baptist Church stands as one of the oldest and most influential African American congregations in Schenectady, New York. Formally established in 1919, the church has served as a spiritual and social anchor for the community for over a century. Since 1956, the congregation has been housed in its historic building at 407 Union Street, a move that marked a significant period of growth and stability.
